ARTCARS
I am one of the countless creators of surrealist artcars in these recent times. All my cars have their origins in the innovations of such artists as Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Meret Oppenheim, and Joseph Cornel. Following in a tradition of transforming ordinary objects by altering and sabotaging their original function, or combining them with other elements, I construct my cars using thrift shop finds. This highly personal art is composed from constellations of affinities and memories. I fuse references to beloved artists with paraphernalia from recent times, and places near and far. Toy ships, ceramic figurines, cast resin deco and donated bling are some of the backbone elements that point the viewer to a fun visual poetry that provokes profound sensations both mysterious and familiar.
